John ODBER died in 1834 at Stour Provost, Dorset, England.
Burial*
25 June 1834
He was buried on 25 June 1834 at Stour Provost, Dorset, England; Aged 78 yrs.3
Residence*
He lived at Top Lane Stourton.
Note
Other information; It is assumed that this John ODBER was the one buried in Stour Provost in 1834, aged 78 years. However, it is possible that there was more than one man of that name.
Note also that the last record of this family in Stourton is the baptism of Charles in 1797. The last appearance as godparents is in 1795. Did they move to Stour Provost?
Note*
Other information; John ODBER is assumed to be the father of the illegitimate child of Martha DAVIS, who later became his wife, but there is no direct proof.

John ODBER was born in 1729; Possibly born in Stour Provost where he was living at the time of his marriage. Not born in Stourton but came there in 1755 with his family.1
John ODBER married Mary LUCAS, daughter of John LUCAS and Ann SHEPHERD, on 25 October 1756 at St Peter's, Stourton, Wiltshire, England. Groom of Stour Provost.2

Burial*
5 April 1777
He was buried on 5 April 1777 at St Peter's, Stourton, Wiltshire, England; A Papist, aged 48 yrs.4
Occupation*
He was a Mason.1
Note*
Other information; Although this couple appear to have stopped having children in 1762, which would lend weight to the thought that John ODBER might be the man of unspecified age buried in Stour Provost on 9 Nov 1763, I have not allocated him as such. This is because there is a burial in Stourton of a John ODBER, aged 48 years, in 1777 and this seems to fit.
Assuming that I have allocated them correctly, John ODBER and his wife appear in the 1767 Catholic census, so of course he coudl not have died in 1762. They arrived in Stourton in 1755, which would explain why they were not in the 1751 list of inhabitants. At the time of the 1767 census, they had four children, so one is apparently not yet identified.
Joseph ODBER was born in 1754; He is allocated as the son of William and Mary, rather than John and Mary, as his birthdate is before the marriage of the latter.
Joseph ODBER married Mary BRADDEN, daughter of John BRADDEN and Elizabeth (BRADDEN), on 8 May 1786 at St Peter's, Stourton, Wiltshire, England. Wit: John BRADDEN (X), Robert TABOR (clerk).1

Other information; The Bonham register records the mother's name as Margaret, but I believe that it should be this family, as there were no other men named John ODBER having children at this time.
Alternatively, the father's name could be wrong in the registers. Martin ODBER #6546 was married to a Margaret.

Note*
Other information; The family relationships are constructed on the basis of the best information available. As at 28 Apr 2006, the only confirmed child of this couple is Winifred ODBER. The others are attributed to the family based on date of birth, surname and the godparent relationship between them all. The List of Inhabitants in 1751 has William ODBER with 9 members of his household. This is the only ODBER family. Perhaps William, his wife and 6 children, plus a servant.
Three of the children show that they have been in Stourton since 1755, indicating that the family as a whole migrated there. This doesn't match with being present in the parish in 1751.
Other information; A Winifred ODBER married a James GOFF in Stour Provost on 22 Nov 1768. If it was this person, then she would not have been shown as Winifred ODBER in the baptisms of her nephews and nieces, unless the marriage was not considered valid for some reason.
Residence*
Winifred ODBER lived at Stourton.
Name Variation
She was also known as Winny.
