Note*
Other information; His baptism record simply lists his father as "John FORD". There were more than one at the time. One was described (in 1741) as John FORD the son of Edward FORD. Edmund is associated with this particular John FORD because his grandsons were yeomen and sheriffs - ie. slightly higher social class than the John FORD who was "very poor". This is quite flimsy and may need to be reviewed. A will of Edward FORD dated 1728 is available.

Edward FORD died in 1811 at Mere, Wiltshire, England.
Burial*
24 April 1811
He was buried on 24 April 1811 at St Michael's, Mere, Wiltshire, England; Aged 34 yrs.2
Note*
Other information; There were 3 men named Edward FORD at about this time. One survived at least until the 1851 census: a carpenter of Southbrook, father of Stephen, husband of Martha. Born in Mere in 1777 according to the census.
There was also Edward, labourer, husband of Sarah BAVERSTOCK of Brixton Deverill, married in Mere in 1799. Had children between 1801 and 1817, so he's probably the one who died in 1837.
Then there's the husband of Mary, had two children in 1799 and 1804. He's probably the one who died in 1811.
Two candidates for death: 24 Apr 1811, aged 34 yrs (NFI) at Mere and 18 Feb 1837, aged 59 yrs (NFI), at Mere. The burial on 20 Dec 1847 is of an infant (NFI).
There are 3 possible baptisms: 11 Oct 1776 at Mere s/o John, 6 Apr 1777 at Mere s/o William, 17 Apr 1778 at Mere s/o William & Ann. If the last two are the same parents, then the first probably died in infancy, although there is no record of this. The burial in 1782 is NFI, so probably an adult - has been allocated as the one born in 1718, whose widow re-married two years later.
The one who died 3 Aug 1853 was aged 76 yrs. He was the carpenter who survived until the 1851 census.
There was a marriage in Mere of Edward FORD & Mary TURNER in 1802, so they have been allocated as the parents of Sarah FORD baptised in 1804. I have to assume that the mother of Mary FORD baptised in 1799 was a first wife of Edward FORD, but have no marriage record.
Residence*
He lived at Mere.
(Witness) Marriage
30 January 1800
He witnessed the Marriage of Roger FOOT and Mary FORD on 30 January 1800 at St Michael's, Mere, Wiltshire, England.
He married Frances FORD, daughter of John FORD and Joan HARDING, on 24 September 1716 at St Michael's, Mere, Wiltshire, England. Groom of West Knoyle. Bride of Mere.1
Note*
Other information; John, son of Edward FORD, had a son also called John baptised in Mere in 1741.
Edward FORD was born in 1777 at Mere, Wiltshire, England; There were three infants named Edward FORD born in Mere 1776-1778. Two sons of William, one son of John. All had brothers named John & Henry, none had a brother named Richard.
There were two marriages for Edward FORD in Mere in the appropriate timeframe: to Sarah BAVERSTOCK in 1798 and to Mary TURNER in 1802. "Edward & Sarah" and "Edward & Mary" were having children baptised at the same time as "Edward & Martha", so this would indicate that the 1798 & 1802 marriages were not for this man.
The Edward FORD who married Mary was buried on 24 Apr 1811, aged 34 yrs. The one who maried Sarah kept having children after that date and died in 1837. This man is the only one who survived into the census era.
So the 3 men named Edward FORD are assigned to their respective parents almost arbitarily, since we do not have occupations of fathers, or wills, or unusual naming patterns for children to separate them. The allocation of each Edward FORD to a set of parents may need to be reviewed. A this stage, this particular Edward FORD is assigned as teh s/o William & Priscilla b/c: (1) His age at death exaclty matches a birth year of 1777 (2) His presumed brother John, 1st husband of his wife Martha, had a son named William (3) William had a son Henry and Edward named a son Henry.1
Edward FORD was baptised on 6 April 1777 at St Michael's, Mere, Wiltshire, England.2
Marriage*
22 September 1806
He married Martha SLY, daughter of Philip SLY and Jane STRONG, on 22 September 1806 at Bathwick, Somerset, England. NFI. I assume that they went to Somerset to marry as Martha was the widow of Edward's brother, which in the view of many clergy meant that the marriage was not valid.3,4

1853
Edward FORD died in 1853 at Mere, Wiltshire, England.
